Pet Screensavers

Pet screensavers bring life to an often frazzling workstation.  Bored with the basic screensavers installed with my operating software, I decided to search for some interesting new images. WOW, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and range of pet screensaver programs available for free, and sometimes paid, download; everything from funny pet screensavers to nature to celebrities and even animated programs were available at the click of a button.  It got me wondering about these little software programs, their  purpose, function and even how much space they take up on my computer. Besides, how could someone spend hours developing software and then literally give it away for free? There are answers behind adorable pet screensavers.

Here’s a little of what I discovered.

The size of the pet screensaver program installed depends on the programming language used to develop it, along with the type and size of the graphics (images). The resolution of the image (number of pixels used to display it) also plays a big role. Obviously the higher the resolution of those cuddly pet screensavers, the larger the image size, and correspondingly, the larger the screensaver program size becomes. For example, a slide show pet screensaver with high-resolution photos is going to be larger in size than line drawings or simple animation. A rule of thumb to use is that the more detailed the image, the larger the screensaver file size. The reality is that the file size of pet screensaver programs used to be extremely important, but with current technology has changed that, especially when compared to download of movies, music and games.

Those fabulously funny free pet screensavers generate income for developers. Developers really do need to be paid for their work, and the way they do it is through affiliate advertising. Watch out for spyware and adware, which sometimes installs to the computer system, whenever a user downloads and installs a great new free pet screensaver.  You can trust sites that don’t practice this with pet screensaver download.

Adware is a simple software program that is used by advertisers to track web surfing habits, computer usage and other seemingly little things that allow the advertiser to target you with various promotions. Most of the time, it’s really rather harmless. While most companies offering various free pet screensavers will advise customers about their use of adware, some do not. Few may package pet screensaver software with malware - viruses and Trojans - that are destructive and harmful. Go ahead and download those cute pet screensavers, but make sure always have up-to-date anti-malware and adware software installed on your system, so that you can control the advertising software and cookies that may install along with the screensaver.  It will protect you.

So, now that I’ve done just a little research, I’m confident that I can find some great pet screensavers that will keep me entertained, at least for a little while.
