Snow Screensavers

Snow screensavers make the best out of winter:  pretty sights, without the layers and cold.  I have never been one who likes the cold weather.  I grew up in Northern Michigan where the winters are harsh and temperatures are quite frigid.  I'm probably the last person you would see putting calendars of winter wonderlands or snow screensavers up in my office.  I often wonder to myself, what is everyone's fascination with the cold?  Why do people seem to long for snow and the bitter iciness that winter brings?

My friend and I were talking about winter cheer and what people love about it.  She said that the most enjoyable thing is the stillness and beauty that winter brings.  I live in the desert now and am unable to discover that feeling for myself.  I realized that I was ready to learn what so many others seemed to know.  And yet, I still couldn't make myself go out in the freezing air.  So she sent me a program with snow screensavers on it.  I installed the snow screensavers right away, and even though it was June and winter was far away, I bundled up -so to speak- and clicked the Run button.

Snow screensavers were more amazing than I had anticipated!  Delicate crystals, drifting white and breathtaking landscapes were photographed and made into snow screensavers.  I loved the stillness they invoked.  Snow screensavers had a vast library, explaining with each picture why winter is so enjoyable to some.  One of the things I loved most about my new snow screensavers is that they never seemed to get old.  Many snow screensavers cycle over and over but with my snow screensavers, not only was I learning to love winter more, I loved watching the crystalline landscapes go by each time.  Each sunset, each blanketed hill and each starlit winter forest on my snow screensavers was like a new discovery.

Soon, I was downloading more and more snow screensavers to add to my new winter-loving experience.  I started collecting snow screensavers that had shots from unlikely places or areas untouched by human civilization.  However, the thing about winter I was learning was that the precipitation depicted in my snow screensavers made everything seem new, even if it wasn't.  Maybe this was the real charm that had captured everyone's heart for winter.  They loved the purity of it all.

Snow screensavers not only helped me get to know the beauties of winter better but I also cultivated an appreciation for photography, lands I had never visited and the comforts of home.  Who would be able to really enjoy winter if there was no place to warm up in later?  More and more snow screensavers make their home on my computer, where I can continue to study my feelings on winter and what it means to me.  It’s not something you can look up on Google and if I went out there, I know I would be too miserable with cold to see much.  I think the very best feature that my snow screensavers offered me was that I didn't actually have to get cold in order to witness the serenity and perfection that comes in winter.  Snow screensavers definitely made a new experience for me that I wouldn't have had otherwise!
